The wood of the Sequoia is durable and is used for cladding and shingles. The timber is soft with a density of 450kg/m³. Unlike the root, it is not used for decorative purposes

Burr Vavona is highly regarded. The grain can be of a typical birds eye appearance with tight convoluted whorls, twists and pips. In another form the features are more widely spaced against a swirly background. The density of the figure varies considerably.
